
Omiš is a charming little town in Croatia, situated on dalmatian coast only 25 km south from Split.
Except the town of Omiš, which is the center and the biggest town of this mini-riviera, there are also numerous little villages and tourist destinations located near Omiš. Some of the popular are Nemira, Stanići, Čelina, Mimice, Lokva Rogoznica, Pisak and Marušići.
For those who enjoy cultural activities will be delighted with the Romanesque fortress Mirabella built in 13th century. There is also other fortress worth visiting – Starigrad Fortress from the 15th century from where tourists can enjoy in the breathtaking view on the old town, turquoise blue Adriatic sea and islands Hvar, Brač and Šolta.
Except fortresses, there are many other historical monuments that testify to the long history of Omiš such as Parochial church from the 17th century, Renaissance church of the Holy Spirit from the 15th century, Franciscan Monastery with church of Our Lady of Carmel, Old cemetery and many others.
A special attraction during the summer is traditional music festival known as Dalmatian Klapa festival founded in 1967.
